Abstract

The history of power politics has been the history of power projection between great powers. Power projection between great powers is one of the more essential characteristics of the struggle to maintain or to attain hegemonic and semi-hegemonic status in a particular region. In this pursuit, many great powers witnessed their rise and fall due to the complex nature of power projection. Currently, rising China and ruling United States (US) are projecting their power capabilities specifically in the Asia Pacific Region in order to attain or maintain that very hegemonic status and if this pattern continues on this scale, it could trigger regional instability. This paper is an attempt to examine the nature and scale of power projection between US and China and to analyze potential threats to regional stability.
